External Wall Insulation System - 50mm

50mm Insulated Render System onto Masonry finished with a Silicone Top Coat
Caistor, Lincolnshire

The client wished to upgrade the thermal efficiency of their property for a number of reasons,

  • To keep their house warm during the winter months, as it suffered badly with heat loss.
  • To reduce their energy bills in the long term.

The walls are solid brick construction without cavities and they did not want to disrupt the inside of their house by insulating it internally. Also, the existing external render was not in a very good state of repair.

External Insulated Render Systems can over come this problem.

The insulation is bedded to the external elevations of the property, and then held into position with nailable plugs that are fixed into the masonry substrate.

A basecoat is then applied in two coats with a reinforcing mesh embedded between the layers.

Once the basecoat has had sufficient drying time, a primer is applied and then the silicone top coat finish.

The primer and top coat can be coloured to suit the clients tastes, subject to there being a British Standard or RAL number for the colour desired.

The client on this contract chose a pale pink / flesh type colour, which for them, took away the starkness of a bright white giving it a softer look.
