Internal Lime Rendering

Lime Render and Lime Skim

Internal Lime Finish - Finished with a Fine Stuff skim coat
Barton-Upon-Humber, Lincolnshire

When the client came to redecorate one of the rooms in their period property they stripped the walls to find a patch-work quilt of different materials. They wanted to restore their property sympathetically using traditional materials. When we viewed the room the materials varied from original lime plaster in areas, rib lath sand and cement render, to some Thistle Carlite Bonding and skim finish.

We were tasked by the client with re-instating the garden room at their property to how it would have been when originally constructed.

This was achieved by removing all the existing plaster to the walls and ceiling, repairing the lathed ceiling, forming a new side wall to the chimney breast using timber stud lined with hand-riven laths; rendering the ceiling with hair reinforced sand / lime; rendering the walls using sand with hydraulic lime and over skimming with a sand / lime (fine stuff) finishing plaster.
